Partner Laura Farber Honored with Latina Lawyers Bar Association's Mary V. Orozco Abriendo Caminos Award
LOS ANGELES – November 1, 2023 – The Latina Lawyers Bar Association [LLBA] presented Partner Laura V. Farber with the Mary V. Orozco Abriendo Caminos Award at its Annual Awards and Scholarship Dinner on Friday.
"This recognition, especially by my community, means so much to me," said Farber. "I am grateful for this honor which would not have been possible without the support of my law firm, friends and my family."
The Mary V. Orozco Abriendo Caminos Award is named after Mary V. Orozco, who was the first Latina admitted to the California State Bar in 1962. Each year, the LLBA presents the Mary V. Orozco Abriendo Caminos Award to a Latina who characterizes the spirit, tenacity, and vision of Ms. Orozco.
"Through [her] leadership, professional excellence, and steadfast commitment to our core values, [Farber has] paved the path for the rest of us to follow," stated a letter from the LLBA. "Given [her] phenomenal career trajectory, including being the first Latina to lead the Pasadena Rose Parade, the LLBA believes [Farber epitomizes] the spirit of this award."
In addition to her role as the Tournament of Roses® Past President, current Chair of the Rose Bowl Management Committee, California Delegate, Chair of the Rules and Calendar Committee of the American Bar Association House of Delegates, and Chair of the Fellows of the American Bar Foundation, Farber has held numerous leadership positions throughout her career including past American Bar Association Chair of the Latin America and Caribbean Initiative Council, former member of the Rule of Law Initiative Board, a former member of the Steering Committee of the Nominating Committee, a former member of the Board of Governors representing the State of California, past chair of the Commission on Youth At Risk, past chair of the Solo Small Firm and General Practice Division, past chair of the Young Lawyers Division, past member of the ABA Journal Editorial Board and member of the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles County Bar Association
"[Farber's] tireless advocacy for empowering Latinas makes a profound difference in the legal profession, and the LLBA [is] honored to have the opportunity to recognize [her] efforts and accomplishments as an influential force in the legal field," the letter goes on to say.
