Hahn & Hahn LLP partner, Laura V. Farber, represented the American Bar Association's (ABA) California lawyers as the State Delegate in the House of Delegates at the Midyear Meeting of the ABA, held earlier this year in San Diego.

The House of Delegates is the ABA’s policy-making body.  Chief among the functions of the ABA House of Delegates is to establish the association's formal positions on reforms in the law and legal practice, for which the ABA then lobbies the appropriate federal and state rule-making entities to adopt the ABA recommendations.

In this capacity, the House of Delegates convened at the Midyear Meeting, and considered and approved numerous proposals.  Noteworthy proposals which were approved included the adoption of an ABA Model Regulatory Objectives for the Provision of Legal Services (recommending innovations to improve the delivery of, and the public’s access to, legal services), the taking of a position to encourage the development of a continuing legal education credit for programs regarding diversity in the legal profession, and the backing of an effort to urge the United States Supreme Court to record and make available video recordings of oral arguments.

Following the Midyear Meeting, Ms. Farber issued a report to the California ABA Membership regarding the Midyear Meeting.
